Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather says he is “officially out of retirement” to take on Conor McGregor.
According to reports the pugilist said during the latest leg of his tour in the UK, “For Conor McGregor…I’m coming out of retirement just to fight him. Simple and plain, lets fight in June.”
A bout between the five-weight boxing world champion Mayweather, unbeaten in 49 fights, and McGregor, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) biggest star, has been played out in social media for months.
What has been dismissed as a promotional tease could be reality after all.
28-year old McGregor says he wants $100 million for the fight, a similar amount to the sum 40-year old Mayweather made when he fought Manny Pacquiao in May 2015.
But, the only concrete offer of $25 million has come from UFC president, Dana White.
